• Altitude Sickness
  Headache caused by a quick ascent, usually associated with airplane travel. Divers will experience this when then ascend rapidly from deeper depths
• Lung Expansion Injuries
  Again potentially very fatal, where it is caused by scuba divers holding their breath whilst ascending to the surface
• Decompression Sickness (a.k.a. “the bends”)
  Where nitrogen gases are released  from a solution within the tissues of your body (nitrogen embolism) which is a result of accelerated decompression
• Inner Ear Damage or Hearing Loss
  This is damage resulting from diving without equalising the air pressure within your Eustachian tubes. This can be extremely painful and is aggravated by water pressure and blocked sinuses
• Cerebral Embolism
  Is a result of gas seeping out of a solution within the brain. This can be potentially fatal.
• Alternobaric Vertigo
  This is explained by disorientation or dizziness caused by unbalanced pressures within the inner ear. Most commonly experienced by scuba divers diving with a cold (say influenza – commonly known as the flu)
• Pressure Arrhythmias
  External pressure resulting in abnormal heart rhythms
• Nitrogen Embolism
  Nitrogen gases which are released from a solution within the tissues of your body. This is generally caused by accelerated decompression
• Arterial Gas Embolism
  A potentially fatal situation, where gases are released from solutions in the arteries
• Barodontalgia
  This is commonly known as tooth squeeze. It is pain caused by a change in atmospheric pressure, where tiny bubbles of gasses are trapped in ones teeth
• Dysbaric Osteonecrosis
  Rare bone abrasions produced by long term exposure to high pressure environments. Again a form resulting from nitrogen embolism
• Pneumomediastinum
  From the Greek word ‘pneuma’ (meaning air), is a situation of ruptured bronchus or alveoli in the lungs from excessive pressure. This is caused by holding ones breath whilst scuba ascent

Non-Barotrauma as explained by Henry’s Laws and Dalton’s Laws, explains the risks associated with scuba diving:

• CO2 Toxicity (a.k.a. “hypercapnia”)
  This is caused by inadequate exhalation or air consumption during heavy exertion, resulting in too much carbon dioxide (CO2) in the body. General symptoms include headaches and/or confusion and shortness of breath
• Nitrogen Narcosis (a.k.a. “rapture of the deep”)
  Divers who breathe high pressure gas at depth can also suffer from nitrogen narcosis This is a result of a toxic effect of high pressure nitrogen on your body’s nervous system. Symptoms are comparable to the effects of alcohol drunkenness 
• O2 Toxicity
  This is a result of diving at deep depths, resulting in toxicity of absorbing too much oxygen. Symptoms can include a vomiting, twitching, dizziness or spasms

Other physical and health hazards associated with scuba diving:

• Loss of Air
  This is typically caused by negligent air management or failure of scuba equipment resulting in the diver running out of air 
• Drowning
  One of the most obvious is if a diver breathes in water instead of air or just simply running out of air 
• Dehydration
  In short, dehydration results when you body does not have an adequate amount of water or fluids. Simply, dehydration is cause by not drinking too much water. Diving while dehydrated aggravates other health risks including CO2 Toxicity and Nitrogen Narcosis 
• Hypothermia
  Is the condition where the body’s core temperature drops below the required temperature for normal metabolism and body functionality. Hypothermia can result in a loss of judgment and is simply a loss of body heat. Early symptoms include fatigue 
• Underwater Injury
  These injuries can include bumps, bruises, sprains, abrasions and cuts from sharp coral. Studies have shown that the more common and serious injuries actually occur when getting in and out of a dive boat than actually when in the water
• Dangerous Marine Life
  General rule of diving is not to disturb aquatic life. Injuries can result when divers touch poisonous animals such as sea urchins, jellyfish or stingrays. Fire coral can also cause injury and likewise attacks by larger fish, but these are extremely rare.

Away from costal reefs, the red seas is inhabited by schools of barracuda and an array of shark species ranging from grey reef sharks and leopard sharks to hammerhead sharks. Not only filled with varied corals and pelagic sea life, the red sea is scattered with a variety of wrecks.

The wreck of the ‘Umbria’ (a big passenger and cargo ship) lies perfectly preserved in the red sea along with its cargo of 300,000 bombs. The ‘Blue Bell’ is another wreck which divers like to visit and this ship is still loaded with Japanese cars. The Thistlegorm, sunk by German bombers in World War Two, is an underwater museum, a war grave and a piece of military history, allowing all scuba divers to travel through time and experience the dictatorial regimes of modern times.

Scuba diving in Hurghada is surrounded by many reefs and wrecks. The local wreck of the Elmina (the Egyptian navy minesweeper sunk in 1970 by Israeli fighters) just 10 minutes from the Hurghada harbour, lies between 17 and 32 metres depth. Not only a captivating piece of history but also offers great drift diving due to its strong currents surrounding its location.

Giftun Island lies just off the Hurghada shoreline, providing excellent reefs and walls. Not only fascinating and unrivalled scuba diving for both experienced and non-experienced scuba divers but it is home to dolphins, which regularly play in its lagoons, and some other sought after pelagic creatures of the deep blue.

Hurghada was founded in the early 20th century, and since the 1980s has been continuously developed becoming the largest and leading seaside resort on the Red Sea. Holiday sport facilities range from sail boarding, yachting, snorkelling and above all scuba diving.

Hurghada stretches for about 22 miles (36 km) along the seashore. This vast holiday resort is a destination for Egyptian tourists from Cairo, the Delta and Upper Egypt, as well as package holiday tourists from Europe, particularly Serbians, Italians, Russians, Poles, Czechs and Germans.

Initially a small fishing village, today Hurghada counts 248,000 inhabitants and is divided into three parts: Downtown (El Dahar) the old town; Sekalla the city centre, and El Memsha (Village road) the new town. Sakkala is the relatively modest hotel quarter. Dahar houses the town’s largest bazaar. Furthermore, the recent renovation of the Hurghada’s new marina has launched this town into the 21st century and has given it a real cosmopolitan feel.

Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx: The Pyramids of Giza represent one of the greatest architectural achievements of man. The Great Pyramid of Giza (the last surviving member of the Seven Wonders of the World) is one of the world’s oldest tourist attractions and attracts vast numbers of tourists every year. Each of the three main pyramids’ in Giza (the Great Pyramid of Khufu, The Pyramid of Kafhre and the smaller Pyramid of Menkaura) is a tomb to a different Egyptian King. The Sphinx lies in front of the pyramids and is carved out of a single block of stone. This enormous cat-like sculpture is another ‘must-see’ attraction and over many decades has captivated millions.

Tutankhamun’s Tomb and The Valley of the Kings: The Valley of the Kings (the home of Tutankhamun) is situated on the ancient site of Thebes and is where the Pharaoh’s were buried. Another great attraction to see whilst visiting Egypt. To see Tutankhamun’s treasure you will have to visit the National Museum in Cairo. Amongst Tutankhamun (who was relatively a minor king) there are many more impressive tombs to discover in the Valley of the Kings.

Abu Simbel Temples: Next to the Pyramids of Giza, the twin temples Abu Simbel are also possibly the most recognised monument of ancient Egypt. These two enormous rock temples, originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari, have been attracting visitors to Egypt since the Victorian times.

The River Nile: Generally regarded as the longest river in the world, the Nile is a major flowing river in North Africa. Approximately 4,130 miles (6,650 km) long, it runs through eleven countries – Sudan, South Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda and Egypt. The northern section of the river flows almost entirely through desert, from Sudan into Egypt (a country whose civilisation has depended on the river since ancient times). Most of the cities of Egypt lie along these parts of the Nile valley and nearly all the historical and cultural sites of Ancient Egypt are found along its riverbanks. The Nile eventually ends and empties into the Mediterranean Sea.

The Temple of Luxor: Travelling to Luxor it is hard to miss the spectacular Luxor Temple which is situated in the city centre, close to the east bank of the River Nile. Principally built by Amenhotep III and Ramesses II around 1400BC, remains a place of worship for Christians and Muslims. The Luxor Temple is beautifully lit at night and is well worth visiting at sunset.

Bubble Maker Course (8 years old +)

From the age of 8 a PADI ‘Bubble Maker’ course can be attained. To become a PADI Certified Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, it is required that you are at least 10 years old. This certification requires diving to be made with a certified parent, guardian or PADI Professional at no greater than a depth of 12 metres. Ten to 14 year olds must dive with a certified adult. Junior PADI Certification can be upgraded to a regular Open Water Diver Certification but only at the age of 15.

Discover Scuba Diving (Introductory 1 Day Trial)

This is where it all begins and there is nothing better than trying it out yourself! Our experienced instructors will take you for your first breath under water! Go for it and experience what it feels like to be weightless and swim like a fish! After a full introduction into scuba diving and your equipment you will experience two dives on two different amazing reefs of the Red Sea.

PADI Scuba Diver (2 Day Course)

The PADI Scuba diver course is your entry to the world of divers! Up to 80% of the world is covered with water; let us show you how to discover the underworld! Our two day program will enable you to go diving with an instructor or certified assistant. It is especially designed for those who wish to get an introduction to scuba diving. The first day you will spend with theory and shore based sessions, already day two you will spend on our diving yacht and visit the marvellous marine life of the Red Sea. The course includes rental equipment, instructor, one day boat and for sure lots of fun. License fees and course manual to be paid extra on spot.
 

PADI Open Water Diver (4 Day Course)

This is the complete program for beginners. Unlike the Scuba Diver Course and on successful completion of the Open Water Course, you will be able to dive independently with your own dive buddy. In the first two days you will be taught everything necessary to be a safe diver in confined water and through classroom sessions. The next two days you will be in the open of the Egyptian Red Sea. During the nine dives of the course you have the chance to explore the amazing flora and fauna under the direct and safe supervision of your instructor.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (2 Day Course)

Your next step is the advanced level. Our professional instructors will show you how to establish perfect buoyancy, correct navigation techniques and introduce deep diving. The course will allow you to explore new things and improve your diving techniques. You have to choose from five different types of dives to develop your diving skills. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver offers entry into the world of night dives and deep dives for example.

PADI Rescue Diver (3 Day Course)

PADI Rescue Diver course covers a wide range of topics including the psychology of rescue, assisting responsive and unresponsive divers at the surface and underwater, recognising diver stress, accident management, equipment problems, oxygen delivery systems, missing diver procedures, responding to diver emergencies and in-water rescue breathing. Prior to enrolling in PADI Rescue Diver, you must be at least 18 years old and be a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. You must also have completed an Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care course (or other sanctioned first aid and CPR course) within the past 24 months.

PADI Divemaster (14 Day Course)

The PADI Divemaster course is the first professional level within the PADI System of diver education and allows you to work as a training assistant on PADI courses and programs. It also allows you to supervise certified divers during pleasure diving experiences and conduct PADI programs independently too. The Divemaster program covers knowledge development, practical application and the Divemaster final exam. Prior to enrolling in PADI Divemaster, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current medical confirming your diving fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months and be a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue or hold qualifying certifications from another dive training organization. You must also have completed a Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care course (or other sanctioned first aid and CPR course) within the past 24 months and be able to prove that you have completed at least 40 dives (60 before being able to complete the Divemaster course with experience of deep dives, night dives and underwater navigation).

PADI Instructor Development Course

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the cornerstone of PADI’s professional-level training. Becoming a PADI Instructor consists of these segments – knowledge development, practical application and the Instructor Examination. The online portion of the course covers nine topics which prepare you for the practical sessions needed to complete your Open Water Scuba Instructor course. Prior to enrolling in the PADI IDC, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current medical attesting to your diving fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months and hold a leadership level diving certification such as the PADI Divemaster rating. You must also have been a certified diver for at least six months and be able to prove that you have completed at least 60 dives (100 before attending the Instructor Examination).

PADI Master Scuba Diver Course

The Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating sets you apart from other dive instructors by showing your commitment to continuing your dive training and being prepared to help others continue their training as well. You also get to teach specialty diver courses – which opens the door to lots of fun while working. As a PADI Master Scuba Diver you will be able to demonstrate to a dive employer that you have the necessary experience in teaching diving and also can teach a range of specialty diver courses. In short, to qualify as a PADI Master Scuba Diver, you must be a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, have five PADI specialty instructor certifications and also have certified at least 25 PADI Divers.
