Oceans Divers only carries out bespoke and exciting itineraries in both the North and South of the Egyptian Red Sea. These itineraries cater for wide variety of interests and in locations suitable for both novice and experienced divers. Please note, diving qualification requirements do vary depending on the liveaboard/safari itineraries chosen. On enquiry you will be advised of the relevant diver requirements. Ideally our itineraries are designed for those new and experienced to scuba diving, allowing you to experience the variety of world famous wrecks and pristine reefs within the Red Sea. The route and time of year of certain dives will increase your chance of diving with various aquatic life. Some of the main challenging sites to dive are explained below. Oceans Divers can offer diving to these destinations, but typically they are Liveaboard / Safari type packages.

Brothers Island
The Brothers Islands are situated 42 miles (67 km) offshore east of El Quseir and south East of Safaga. The smaller island (Small Brother) covers an area of 0.1 km2, while Big Brother covers 0.3 km2. A fantastic opportunity to meet pelagic and big fishes! The use of Liveaboard safari boats, from Hurghada or Safaga, is generally the most sensible way to dive the Brothers Islands. Our tours generally last around one week during which you will spend between 2 to 3 days at the Brothers Islands, offering divers the opportunity to really get to know this legendary site. The Brothers islands offer breath-taking underwater scenery, wall and wreck diving and an abundance of marine life. The two islands are only 0.62 miles (1 km) apart. These two islands alone offer more than 12 different dive locations for divers. These locations are mostly wall dives and strong drop offs, whilst Big Brother does have some ship wrecks on the north-west side.

Elphinstone Reef
Elphinstone Reef (6.5 nautical miles from shore) can be reached it by boat, either by liveaboard from Hurghada or on a day trip from Marsa Alam (where another of our dive partners is based). Ideally, it is better to travel to Elphinstone Reef by liveaboard as you get to spend more time on the Reef and depending on the dive guides and trip you have booked, can choose to dive deeper at the Reef. It is 300 metres long with steep sides, and the Reef runs from the North to the South. At the middle of the Reef it is just 1 metre deep, but the walls drop steeply down to great depths. The current at Elphinstone can be very strong, which results in plenty of fish life. Elphinstone Reef is covered in hard and soft corals and visiting pelagic is frequent too. Visibility also tends to be good too, usually around 20 metres.

Daedalus Reef
Daedalus Reef (or Abu el-Kizal) is a small circular reef approximately 500 metres in diameter. Lying between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. A small lighthouse is located on the Reef which is manned by 4 persons. Strong winds from the North are inherent on this Reef and boats usually anchor at the South. Zodiacs are used frequently on this Reef for those divers wishing to start there dives on the North side of this Reef. The North is actually the most interesting part of this Reef. Steep walls, strong currents and uniqueness of this Reef make this dive site a must for all Red Sea divers. Offering big drop-offs overgrown with huge gorgonians and colourful hard and soft corals, divers have the opportunity to explore a variety of truly unique reef formations. The West side of the Reef offers a city of anemones with its resident clown fish, whilst the East offers steep walls covered with caves and overhangs. The North is the more interesting because of its large pelagic fish like tuna, barracuda and hammerhead sharks. Thresher sharks and whale sharks are also a common feature of this Reef, not forgetting manta rays and sea turtles.

Sha’ab Abu Nuhas
Sha’ab Abu Nuhas (Father of Brass) is a triangular shaped reef a long way from Hurghada but possible in a day trip. Famous for its ship wrecks it originally got its name because of all the brass which went down in the ships. Four main wrecks are located here -The Giannis D, The Canatic, The Chrisoula K and The Kimon M – and are in very close proximity to each other and are within comfortable diving depths of 30 meters or less. The wrecks are located at the North of the reef, where mooring is generally impossible due to the strong unpredictable currents. Liveaboards are generally the best way to visit this famous ‘wreck graveyard’.

Ras Mohammed
Whilst a considerable travelling distance from the Hurghada shoreline, Ras Mohammed National Park (declared in 1983 as a conservation and marine park) has since become an essential feature to the economic development of the South Sinai. The boundaries of the Ras Mohammed extend from a point opposite the Qad Ibn Haddan lighthouse on the Gulf of Suez to the southern boundary of the Gulf of Suez. The area includes the island of Tiran and all shorelines fronting the Sharm el Sheikh Tourist development area. The coral reef ecosystems found here are recognised internationally as the best in the world. With its shallow plateau dives as well as big drop offs with views into the blue, offers outstanding coral reef, plenty of fish and marine life and nature viewing experiences to all visitors.
